DGIST-SKT Collaboration : To Foster Talents in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

DGIST and SKT signed ‘DGIST-SKT MOU’ on collaborative education program for the talented individuals in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology’ on Monday August 3. Both parties of the MOU are expected to be cultivating talented, young individuals in AI sector in Korea through close cooperation.

DGIST and SKT will cooperate in various ways to foster talented individuals in the AI technology field by developing a curriculum for AI technology, also building a network of experts and talented individuals in AI field. DGIST and SKT will also focus on education programs to strengthen core competences related to AI, such as sharing online education contents including the development and operation of the curriculum that includes at least one subject a year for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Accordingly, DGIST will use SK’s E-learning contents as supplementary materials for projects and assignments in the data science courses for undergraduate students. DGIST also plans to use learning contents on T-Brain Music AI and NUGU AI service platforms among the technological contents of SKT in the Undergraduate Group Research Program(UGRP). In addition, Both will continue to cooperate in the field of education by utilizing educational contents related to the latest research trends in various fields as supplementary materials for graduate school courses.

“AI is the core technology that will lead the fourth industrial revolution. DGIST is making continuous efforts to provide top-level AI education in Korea,” said Seung Tae Hong, Dean of DGIST Graduate School, adding, “We look forward to providing more fruitful education on AI by fully utilizing SKT’s online contents through the MOU.”

Sang Gyu Shin, Head of the Corporate Culture Center of SKT, stated, “SKT has strengthened AI organizations and secured AI competences through intense cooperation with related organizations in the past few years,” and added, “I expect that the MOU with the young and dynamic DGIST will invigorate the development of domestic AI ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, DGIST has come forward to build up research and education in AI by expanding AI faculty with excellent lecturers, holding AI workshops, and initiating industry-academy researches with AI companies.
