DGIST(Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology) invites applicants for full-time, tenure track faculty positions.

  DGIST is a growing institute dedicated to science and technology research and education in South Korea, where competent faculty, researchers and students seek to discover new and creative convergence knowledge and technologies. Founded by the Korean government, DGIST opened its graduate and undergraduate school in 2011 and 2014, respectively, and has been offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Degree programs, continually diversifying its programs in the field of science and engineering. The number of students has been rapidly growing and it is expected to have more than 2,000 students by 2020. DGIST is pursuing international recognition with its innovative education system and many scientific luminaries hosted over the years.

  Candidates should hold a Ph.D., and have a potential to be at world-leading position in both teaching and research. Salary, rank, and other compensations are commensurate with qualifications and experiences. Priority will be given to the applicants who have developed strong research career in the following fields.


A. Emering Materials Science
• Condensed matter physics
• Chemistry(Physical chemistry preferred)

 

B. Information and Communication Engineering
• All areas in electrical engineering and computer science including but not limited to the following 
 - Artificial Intelligence
 - High Speed ADC and RF Circuit Design
 - Neuromorphic Device

 

C. Robotics Engineering
• AI theories and AI for Robotics : AI algorithm, Deep learning, Machine learning, Motion planning, Robot vision, Intelligent control and other related topics
• Autonomous Vehicle Technology : Computer vision, SLAM, Vehicle control, Intelligent transportation system and other related research topics 
• General Robotics : Cooperative robot, Industrial robot, Humanoid, Surgery/Rehabilitation robot, Exoskeleton, Mobile robot and other related research topics
• All areas in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering related to Robotics for exceptional candidates

 

D. Energy Science and Engineering
All areas in chemistry, physics, materials science, and chemical engineering related to energy conversion, storage, and saving, such as
• Design, synthesis, fabrication and modeling of materials and devices
• Characterization of structure, properties, dynamics and functions
• Integration into energy-harvesting or low–energy-consumption devices

 

E. Brain and Congnitive Science
• All areas in brain and cognitive sciences including cellular/molecular neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and computational neuroscience

 

F. New biology
• Microbial metagenomics/bioinformatics
• Animal/plant microbiome
• Immunology
• RNA biology/epigenetics
• Plant development biology
• Biomedicine / Biomedical Engineering
• Bio-imaging and Cryo-EM

 

G. Undergraduate Studies
• Field : Western Philosophy
• Position : Tenure Track Faculty 
• Responsibilities 
 - Teaching minimun 6 credits per semester
 - Developing philosophy and humanities courses
• Candidates with the following qualifications preferred  
 - Specialized in ancient or early modern philosophy 
 - Having College-level teaching experience 
• The ability to teach in the medium of English required

• Field : Political Science
• Position : Tenure Track Faculty 
• Responsibilities 
 - Teaching minimun 6 credits per semester
 - Developing philosophy and humanities courses
• Candidates with the following qualifications preferred  
 - Specialized in Korean politics and quantitative research methodology 
 - Having College-level teaching experience 
• The ability to teach in the medium of English required
