Grading System

Grading System Policies
Category Grade Note
Credit granting [D-] or higher and [S] -
Fail [F], [U] If a student receives a grade of 'F' or 'U' in a common mandatory course, he/she should retake the same course without fail.
Withdrawal [W] Marked as 'W.' Students must submit the Application Form for Course Withdrawal to Educational Affairs and Records Team in order to withdraw from a course after the withdrawal deadline. In this case, a grade notation of 'W' is automatically recorded on their transcript for that course.
Incomplete [I] If a professor do not remove 'I' in 2 weeks after the last day of grade submission, 'I' will be graded as 'F' or 'U'
Retaking [B+] or lower A student cannot repeat the course that he/she has already retaken.

The followings are not calculated into Grade Point Average (GPA)

Courses adopting a pass/fail ('S'/'U') grading system

Courses graded as 'W'

Grades earned at other universities (Exception : grade earned at the following universities are calculated into GPA; KAIST, GIST, UNIST, POSTECH)

Grades that a transfer student earned at the previous institution

Grades that MS and PhD students earned after taking undergraduate courses

Grades earned under a joint degree program

Grades of the courses of which credits have been granted when transferring to the integrated Master's/Doctoral program.

Grades of subjects of recognized credits at changing a major

Grades of subjects of recognized credits at readmission

Undergraduate FGLP (Freshmen Global Leadership Program)

Prerequisite subject (AP Course)

Attendance

Those who fails to attend more than three-fourths of the classes will be given F

Acceptable Reasons for Excused Absences

  • ① Participation in a competition or conference upon the recommendation of the president
  • ② Other reasons that the president recognizes as being necessary such as natural disasters and physical examination for conscription, etc.

※ Students should submit an Excused absence form to Educational Affairs and Records Team.

Academic Probation

Undergraduate Studies

  • The students whose cumulative GPA falls below 1.7/4.3 is the object of the Academic Probation.

※ Those who are on Academic Probation three times shall be expelled.

Graduate School

  • The students whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.5/4.3 is the object of the Academic Probation.

※ Those who are on Academic Probation two consecutive times shall be expelled.
